Buddhism Meets Modern Art

After successfully settling in after my first week classes, one of our first missions as a group was to visit the notorious White Temple. When researching must see things in Thailand the White Temple came up multiple times it seemed in almost everyone's searches. We planned a group trip and took a rented van the three hour journey to neighboring Chiang Rai.

The White Temple is first and foremost, an art piece, symbolically representing different ideas and beliefs in Buddhism. There are some great articles on the subject.

I found it to be a great introduction to the ideas of Buddhism, the artistic expression and symbolism communicated some of the unfamiliar ideas and practices in a beatiful way.
